The MArch program is regularly represented in the Sam Fox School’s annual Public Lecture Series, which brings nationally and internationally recognized architects, artists, designers, landscape architects, urban designers, historians, and critics to campus, promoting new ideas in practice, theory, and technology.

In addition, the MArch program often arranges program-specific lectures, workshops, symposia, and other opportunities as an extension of learning in the classroom.

Decoys & Depictions Symposium

In fall 2019, the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design presented Decoys & Depictions: Images of the Digital, a symposium exploring how digital images are constructed; the implications for how architects and artists operate; and the potential effects within social and political realms.

Organized by assistant professor Constance Vale, the symposium investigated the effects of digital imaging on contemporary practice through lectures, panel sessions, and exhibitions. The more than two dozen participants included Sam Fox School architecture and art faculty as well as visiting architects from across the country.
