Career Engagement: Architecture

The WashU Center for Career Engagement partners with the Sam Fox School to individually support students studying architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design, bolstering academic and professional development.

From one-on-one career coaching to career fairs and alumni networking events, the WashU Center for Career Engagement is a hub of resources for students as they customize their career trajectory.

Students who are interested in learning more about careers in architecture are encouraged to join the Arts, Design & Media Career Community. By joining this community, students will gain exposure to the professional practices of architects, artists, designers, writers, and practitioners working in a multitude of contexts and industry niches.

Career Coaching Appointments

1:1 Appointments

One-on-one career coaching helps students crystallize their interests and develop the tools to target internships, jobs, residencies, fellowships, graduate schools, and other professional opportunities. We encourage students to schedule a 1:1 appointment early in the semester. Schedule a 1:1 appointment for online scheduling, or email careers@wustl.edu.

Quick Advising

These 15-minute check-ins are ideal for a quick review of a resume, edits to a cover letter, portfolio review, or troubleshooting a follow-up strategy with a prospect. Students must have had at least one 1:1 advising appointment to take advantage of these sessions. Sign-up emails are sent out regularly by the office.

Student and Alumni Networking Programs

Design Internship Network

The Design Internship Network is a program that seeks to utilize a network of professional partners to offer a broad range of internship opportunities to students in the College of Architecture & Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design. It is our belief that internship experiences are invaluable to our students’ success and competitiveness as they seek career options in a challenging and dynamic professional context.

Interested firms or individuals will be matched to current students seeking real-world internship and job-shadowing experiences. More information, including enrollment details, can be found through the link.
