Maya Graine

I became disabled at the age of eighteen after contracting an infection, which resulted in permanent chronic illnesses. At the same time, I developed unrelated spinal degeneration, nerve damage, and arthritis. I turned to art as a way to work through my pain and confusion. I create artwork in solidarity with my community, artwork that makes able-bodied people confront their discomfort, fear, and misconceptions about disability.
