Areas in Ferguson appear to have earned both "Still Desirable" and "Definitely Declining" HOLC grades, same as most of the St. Louis area except for downtown ("Hazardous") and the Central West End ("Best").

The northern section of the city has the highest homeowner rate (83%), low Black population, and higher income inequality. The central and southwest areas of the city are more balanced in homeownership rate, demographics, and have less high income inequality.

Maps show the legacy of racially restrictive housing policies in Ferguson, MO, from the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation loan rating system in 1937, to present-day limitations on voucher-accepting properties, and the mortgage tax write-off that continues to benefit those who’ve historically had access property.
