The Sam Fox School awarded six faculty its 2018-19 Creative Activity Research Grants, which encourage the pursuit of innovative new projects or the advancement of ongoing creative activity and research.
The following recipients were chosen by a jury of tenured and tenure-track faculty:
Associate professor Patty Heyda, to support the production of the publication Ferguson Primer.
Professor Lisa Bulawsky, to support the multimedia project Portable Memories in Rising Seas.
Senior lecturer Tom Reed, to support a photogravure project with Flying Horse Editions.
Associate professor Mary Ruppert-Stroescu, to support the development of a working prototype uniform for wheelchair rugby players.
Associate professor Tim Portlock, to produce a series of large format photographic prints for a solo exhibition.
Assistant professor Penina Acayo Laker, to facilitate workshops, conduct research, and consequently develop of a tool kit that reimagines the humanitarian design approach to conducting socially responsible design work in the developing world context.
