Katie Jade

Katie is a writer who is obsessed with drawing. As an undergraduate student, she was fascinated by the visual, expansive nature of poetry which ultimately led her to begin drawing visual accompaniments to her writing. She’s interested in how creativity keeps people connected to themselves and others, and how the role of art making evolves in an ever-automating world. Other subjects her work explores include kitsch, humor, mental health, body image, miscommunication, placelessness, and travel.

Before pursuing her MFA she worked in project management supporting digital campaigns for non-profits. When she’s not in class she can be found overusing the color pink and sharing snacks with her dog, Spud.
