713: Studio Metropolitan Design: We the People: Making Space in Washington, D.C.

The 713 studio looks at a growing North American city at multiple scales, examining how urban life is shaped by pressures of growth and development. In spring 2022, the studio focused on Washington, D.C., which has the additional challenge of a place full of nested political scales. Students looked at Poplar Point, a prominent yet difficult-to-access site with nested planning agendas and close proximity to the historic Anacostia neighborhood and river.
