About the artist
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Frida Barenek holds US and Brazilian citizenship. Barenek studied Architecture at Santa Ursula’s University (BA graduated in 1983) and, from 1978 to 1983, studied sculpture at the Museu de Arte Moderna and Escola de Artes Visuais Parque Lage, all in Rio de Janeiro. In 2012, Barenek received her Master Degree in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins in London, UK. Currently living in Miami, Barenek has studios in Rio de Janeiro and the U.S. Her works are held by the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, University of São Paulo, the Kemper Art Museum,[6] and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
