About the artist
Paul Mason studied at the Bolton College of Art & Design (1970-1), Wolverhampton Polytechnic (1971-4) and the Royal Academy Schools (1974-7). Paul has been Artist-in Residence at the Tate Gallery St Ives (1996); the National Stone Centre, Derbyshire (1989); Grizedale Forest Cumbria (1981); Webster University, St Louis, USA (1986) and Saarland, West Germany (1984). Solo exhibitions have included The Bauhaus-Archiv Museum fur Gestaltung, Berlin (2001); the Tate Gallery, St Ives (1996); the Djanogly Art Gallery, Nottingham (1997) and Six Chapel Row, Bath (1998). Group exhibitions have included the Dock Museum, Barrow in Furness (1999); the Newlyn Art Gallery (1997) and Divers Memories, Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford (1995). Mason has had commissions from British Airways, Singapore Airport (2001); Eagle Wharf, Vauxhall Bridge, London (2001); East River Yar Project, Isle of Wight (2001); Barrow in Furness, Channelside Gardens (1999); Victoria Dock Park, Hull (1998); Seaham Promenade, Groundwork Trust (1998); Edinburgh City Council (1994) and National Maritime Headquarters, Southampton (1993).
