About the artist
Mary Sprague earned an AB in art and an MA in painting and drawing from Stanford University in 1956 and 1963, respectively. She taught for one year at Foothills College in Los Altos Hills, California, before taking on her current position at Meramec Community College in St. Louis, Missouri.
Sprague’s work focuses primarily on interior scenes and horses. She has received many awards, including a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her work is included in the collections of the St. Louis Art Museum and the Las Vegas Art Museum, among others.
